Pass the Pigs (drinking version) For those reading who don't know about Pass the Pigs (the normal game), I'll start with a quick overview. The game includes two small pigs, which are essentially dice. Each turn you roll the pigs and get points depending on how they land. So, if one pig lands on its feet and the other on its back, you'd get 10 points. You keep rolling until either you decide to stop and add the points from the round to your total, or you Pig Out, leaving you with zero points for the round, and the next player takes over. There's a bit more to it than that, but since anyone who's bought the game should know the basic rules, I'll continue. For Pass the Pigs - JoeDigi Style, you play the game in the normal fashion, except that you're incorporate drinking into it. So each player is still playing to 100 points (or whatever you want), you roll and Pig Out as normal, etc. Firstly, you always drink when you pass the pigs, whether you ended your turn with points or not. So, if you roll 15 points and decide to stop and add those points to your total, you pass the pigs to the next player, add your score and take one drink. If you fail to score in a round, you still drink the requisite one drink, but there are penalty drinks as well. You drink once for every ten points you had accumulated when you Pig Out each round. For example, if after a few rolls you had accumulated 35 points, that would be worth four drinks. (Three drinks for losing the 35 points, plus one for passing the pigs.) If you had 27 points and Pig Out, that would be three drinks. (Two drinks for the 27 points and one for passing.) There's no rounding-up, but you can always set house rules. If you Pig Out with, say, seven points, you'd only have to drink for passing as you hadn't scored 10 points yet. However, if you Pig Out on your first roll of the turn (when you still have zero for the round), there's a one drink penalty added, so you'd have to drink two. At the end of the game, you drink double your finishing place. So first
place drinks two, second place drinks four, third place six, etc. If you
manage to get an Oinker (when the two pigs touch), you lose all points
for the game, plus you have to drink eight, plus whatever points you lost
for the round.
